Can anyone tell me the difference between the terms 'adenylylation' and 'adenylation'? Am I right to believe that one, 'adenylylation,' is correct, whereas the other, 'adenylation,' is a common misspelling? Or, are both correct, denoting different processes?
I've always used adenylylation on tests, but as far as I know one can both use adenylyl cyclase and adenylate cyclase to mean the same enzyme. So I think either term is okay.
dear louie . they are different terms . adenylation is when only adenine gets added to something . while adenylylation is term used when adeninine +ribose +phosphate gets added (AMP).similarly when only guanine is added it is guanylation but when GMP (Guanosine monophosphate gets added ) it is guanylylation and so on
